The Riccarton Rotary and Petersgate Story
Riccarton Rotary supports the needs of the community around the Christchurch area. The requirement for high quality, professional mental health and counselling services has never been greater and that is why Riccarton Rotary is proud to be associated with Petersgate Counselling Centre.
Petersgate was initially established in 1996 as an ecumenical project to provide a generic, low-cost counselling service that is affordable, professional and accessible to everyone regardless of race, gender and creed. Petersgate helps anyone who needs it regardless of their circumstances, taking on the hardest cases with love and optimism. Members of Riccarton Rotary have supported Petersgate by being on their board, and by providing IT assistance when required. We have recently supported them with a grant to improve their computer facilities – replacing some 10-year old computers with modern ones.
All counsellors have full membership of NZAC (the New Zealand Association of Counsellors), NZCCA (the New Zealand Christian Counsellors’ Association), NZAP (the New Zealand Association of Psychotherapists) or equivalent professional body, or are working towards full membership through courses of study and placements with appropriate service providers.
